About Us

About us:

We are a young family of three living in Salt Lake City, Utah. Our daughter is two years old and the two of us, Aaron and Bridget, are in our twenties. We have no formal culinary training, but we know what good food tastes like and what makes a dining experience great. Beyond looking at price, taste, and presentation, we'll tell you how the customer service was and whether the restaurant provided a family friendly experience.

Introduction

Welcome to Spoon Critic!

So, we like food. You probably do too. Sometimes you eat at a restaurant and it's amazing. The ambiance. The service. The food. Everything is perfect. Other times, not so much...

After entertaining the idea for a long time, we decided to create a restaurant critique blog. After a much longer time, it actually became a reality.

Welcome to Spoon Critic!

We eat out. We review. We tell you. And you read (we hope!).

Here's the breakdown:

Price per plate:
$ = Inexpensive ($10 and under)
$$ = Moderately Inexpensive ($10 - $25)
$$$ = Expensive ($26 - $49)
$$$$ = Very Expensive ($50 and up)

Taste:
1 = I wish that I could forget it.
2 = I forgot it.
3 = I liked it.
4 = I loved it!

Presentation:
1 = I'm not sure that I want to eat that...
2 = I'll give it a try, but no promises.
3 = This looks delicious.
4 = This plate belongs in a museum!

Customer Service:
Salutations: e.g. Did we get greeted when we entered? Did we get thanked for coming in as we left?
Waiter/Waitress: Did they give their name? Were they friendly and helpful? Did they listen to us and attend to our needs? Did they put the plate of hot food in front of the toddler? (That is a big no-no btw.)
Wait Time for Food: Were we bombarded with food or were or stomachs growling?
Attentiveness of Staff: (Host/Hostess, Waiters/Waitresses other than our own, Bussers, Cooks/Chefs, Managers)

Family Friendliness:
Changing table in Restrooms; Men, Womens, Family
Kids Activity
Kids Menu
 Atmosphere (Is it going to be a big deal that my toddler bangs her spoon or cries once, or is singing a song?)

The overall value is rated 1 - 4 spoons:

Hope you enjoy!
